(Santa Maria) - The SMSC Swim-A-Thon concluded with the athlete party for all athletes that raised money on the pool deck at the Paul Nelson Aquatic Center Monday evening. It was the 2nd most successful Swim-A-Thon in club history, raising approximately $17,000! Coach Matt's GOLD group took the group title with just over $4000 and wins the pizza party at a time of their choosing. Way to go SMSC!

SMSC will begin new member signups from 4:30-6:00PM on Tuesday and Thursdays, effective September 11, 2007. Bring your child and swim suit so you can try out for group placement.

(Fresno, CA) - The Santa Maria Swim Club began making history on Day 1 of the Central California Junior Olympics, dominating the 800 Freestyle's across all age groups. SMSC has never been better than 4th place at the summer championship meet featuring age group teams from the Central Coast and Central Valley. (Clovis, CA) - The California-Nevada State Championships conitnued Friday evening with SMSC hanging onto 6th in the Boys/Girls Combined and 3rd place in the Women's division. Rachael Wahl swam to a 5:02 in the 400 I.M. to earn 6th place. Lora Lougee finished 24th in the same event. In the Women's 800 Free Relay, Wahl, Lora Lougee, Samantha Lougee and Meghan Zimmer swam to a 8:47. Final results were not available at press time. As of June 7, 2007, SMSC rankes 22nd in Southern California Swimming and 199th Nationally out of 2800 teams in the Virtual Club Swimming Championships. (Davis, CA) - Santa Maria Swim Club and Pioneer High School Senior Samantha Lougee will sign a National Letter of Intent to swim at the University of California at Davis beginning in the Fall of 2007. The offer includes a full academic and athletic scholarship.
