(Concord, CA) - The final day of competition came to a close today at the Pacific Trials and Finals Invitational which featured competition between some of the best clubs and athletes in Northern California. SMSC put together some great final day swims, with Erica Brannon, Samantha Lougee and Meghan Zimmer all racing to 1:00 - 100 Backstrokes. Santa Maria Swim Club opened up the evening's finals with a pair of 200 Medley Relays, the women finishing 4th (S.Lougee, Brannon, Wahl, Zimmer - 1:53.20) and the men finishing 5th (Bateman, Prenot, Motley, Furber - 1:51.29). Jared Zimmer, SMSC-alum and current Lewis University athlete named Conference "Athlete of the Week" for his efforts against Western Illinois University. (Santa Maria) - Antonio McNeil was selected by the Santa MAria SUN as their "Athlete of the Week" for his efforts with the Santa Maria High School Water Polo Team. (Santa Maria) - The 1st Olympic Conference Splash season kicked off with a bang on Friday evening at the Paul Nelson Aquatic Center with over 55 athletes from SMSC participating. The Olympic Conference Splash (OCS) is an attempt to provide more racing in a fun environment for the Novice level at SMSC. Five in-season meets are held with a culminating championship in March.
