  (Santa Maria, CA) - Meghan Zimmer, an athlete with SMSC from the age of 8 years old, signed a scholarship offer with the San Diego State Aztecs, this past week.  Zimmer has enjoyed a long career at SMSC highighted by several team records, and Junior National and USA National appearances. Zimmer will most likely help the Aztecs next year in the 50, 100, 200 & 500 Frees, as well as, Backstroke and IM.

  (Santa Maria, CA) - The Santa Maria Swim Club has been recognized for the third year in a row as one of USA Swimming's Bronze Medal teams. The award distinguishes the Santa Maria Swim CLub as one of the top 200 swimming programs in the country.  The top 16 teams are awarded Gold medal status and often have Olympians in their stables. Josh Prenot dropped 4 seconds off his 400 IM, narrowly missing our team record with a 4:02. In this mornings excitement, Rebekah Corbin won her heat while lowering her lifetime best in the 100 Butterfly to 58.50.   (Orlando, FL) - SMSC had a great first day at the 2009 NCSA Junior National Championships with huge move-ups and two team records falling. Josh Prenot finished 27th IN THE COUNTRY in the Men's 1000 Freestyle, dropping from 9:31 to 9:23, breaking the old team record by 5 seconds. Maddie Mastrup moved from 48th to 23rd IN THE COUNTRY in the Women's 1650 Freestyle, dropping from 17:11 to 16:54 and breaking the old team record by 9 seconds.   (Bakersfield, CA) - SMSC concluded the best Junior Olympic meet in its history Sunday, finishing in 3rd place, just 375 points behind Clovis and 500 points behind Canyons. The team has never finished higher than 4th and never been this close to the much larger teams. Huge performances were turned in by the entire team.   (Bakersfield, CA) - The Santa Maria Swim Club strolled into the CSUB Aquatic Complex with the largest Junior Olympic team in its 83 year history on Thursday afternoon.   (Berkeley, CA) - The SMSC Senior Team will head to U.C. Berkeley this coming weekend to compete in the CAL Invitational. The meet is a college format, Trials and Finals meet, bringing together the best athletes in Northern California. The meet also gives the athletes a chance to see the UC Berkeley campus.

  (Santa Maria, CA) - The Duel in the Pool, featuring competition between Team Santa Monica, Bakersfield and Santa Maria happens Saturday at the Paul Nelson Aquatic Center. The meet will occur in 2 sessions, with session I begininning competition at 10AM and session II beginning at approximately 2:00PM. The meet features head to head racing between the three teams who all enjoy similar rankings in USA Swimming.
